Ewes in Diaspora urged to woo investors to Volta Region

Mr. Kwasi Owusu-Yeboa, Volta Regional Minister

Mary Anane, Daily Graphic – The Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Mr Francis Ganyaglo, has called on the Council of Ewe Association of North America (CEANA) to use its influence to attract more investors to the Volta Region to help create jobs for the youth.
He said there were a lot of investment opportunities in tourism, wind energy, agriculture and agro-processing, aquaculture, salt mining and quarrying, among other areas, which needed to be tapped. All those investment opportunities, he observed, were lying fallow while the youth continued to face issues of unemployment.
Mr Ganyaglo made the call when a delegation, led by the President of CEANA, Dr Peter Nat Abotchie, met him and the Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mrs Fafa Adinyira, to discuss development issues. They discussed how best they could bring the best of development to the region after which they inspected a three-unit classroom block at Tanyigbe-Anyigbe in the Ho Municipality which CEANA had funded and was yet to be completed. The minister encouraged the leadership of CEANA to use this year’s convention of the association scheduled for Denver Colorado in August as an investment forum, where they could showcase the region to woo more investors instead of the usual funfair. The minister observed that it was not good for the association to work in isolation but should collaborate with the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council (VRCC) to facilitate its activities and also safeguard its hard-earned money used to undertake the projects. He assured CEANA that the council would create a desk for the association in order to partner it and create a conducive environment for it to continue with its listed projects. The MCE advised CEANA to continuously publicise its activities for its presence to be felt both at home and abroad.
